Viren Bhagat Jewelry

Viren Bhagat Jewelry is a name that has become synonymous with traditional Indian jewelry designs, especially those of the Mughal era. He is obsessive about old gems that have subtle charms – ‘whispers not shout’, as often remarked by Viren. He co-owns a Mumbai based jewelry company, Bhagat Jewelry House, with his two brothers.

A fourth generation jeweler, Viren Bhagat, has surprised international connoisseurs with his mastery to incorporate traditional symbols, motifs and designs into crafting contemporary stylish jewelry creations. One of his best works that silently speaks of his patience and skill is a 28 emerald beads necklace that flaunts of a 17th century, hand cut 70 carat emerald at the center.

Recently he has completed his 10 years’ efforts of collecting and crafting of a cache, consisting of 24 Burmese cabochon rubies. Though he is in love with antique gems his designs are not at all loud or gaudy. They have a decent and artistic look. In spite of carrying hundreds or thousands of precious stones, his jewelry is lightweight and easily wearable.

Viren’s company crafts 60 to 70 pieces of jewelry each year. Without doubt, most of the pieces get sold before they are manufactured. His loyal clientele now purchase designs on sketch.
